                                           WEB LESSON # 1

Lesson Guide

Day One

1.    Play the Capitalization Matching Game for ten minutes to activate prior knowledge about this subject.

2.       View the slide presentation on Capitalization. Take notes, as needed, or review the information at the bottom of the page.

3.       Meet with the members of your peer group and discuss each rule.

4.        Brainstorm ideas about how you can teach these rules to the class in the form of a power point presentation.

Day Two

1.       Read Chapter 6:Sentence Sense. Complete Application 1 and Application 2. After each activity, submit your responses for scoring. Review the rules and redo each activity, if needed.

2.       Print a scored copy of each activity and place them in your folder.

3.       Meet briefly with your group to finalize plans for the culminating activity.

4.        Allow each member of the group to discuss the scores of today's activity.

Days Three-Four

1.       Meet with members of your team to begin work on the power point presentation. It may be presented as a rap, poem, short story, one-act play, etc. Refer to notes taken on days one and two. Be creative.

2.        Place your work in a power point presentation. Use clip art to enhance your presentation. Save your work on a disk.

Day Five

1.       Meet with your group to put the finishing touches on your project. Review each slide carefully. Make sure each rule is accurately restated in your own words.

2.       Decide who will discuss each slide. Edit for grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors. 

3.       Complete a self-assessment of your work using the rubric. You may find a copy of it by clicking on the link at the top of the page. Place a copy in your folder.

Days Six-Seven

1.       Present your project. Be prepared to answer questions.

2.       Listen to the other presentations. Be prepared to ask questions.

 

Day Eight

1.       Meet with your group and review the rules for capitalization.

2.       Complete Quiz #95-Capitalization. Submit it for grading. Print a copy and give it to your teacher.
